Cross the railroad tracks and follow up the road to the southern Hermosa Creek Trailhead located about 4 miles up Lower Hermosa Road which starts near the railroad track crossing in the small town of Hermosa north of Durango. Long sleeves would have been nice. We started at the southern trailhead (a few min outside of Hermosa), and the first 1.5 miles you do see a lot of burnt trees... but still beautiful!
