Yes it is.....and what a nice knife it truly is! This knife is considered a drop point knife with a small swedge along the top which gives it a stronger tip.

He did however stab his forearm and it went in great! S30V steel is the best I could ask for. but i would also probably use a hatchet or an axe to do any kind of "slamming into a board" work, since that is what those tools are designed to do while not endangering your digits. Will hold edge longer.

I definitely recommend this knife and think it is the best quality knife (especially because of the steel) that you can get at this price point. you push the thumb stud and it flys open since its an assited opener. Since then, I've bought Benchmade, SOG, Ganzo, Enlan, and Ontario...but none of them can hold a torch to the Blur. hmm I'm not sure about the other one but this one has been amazing really.

As for slamming into a board I wouldn't feel too comfortable doing that due to the fact that your index finger doesn't really have much of an area to rest behind on the handle itself. The lock is a liner lock, in the handle beneath the blade.
